You Wanna See Me Nude? The Series
Ordinary Naked Life
I know the word nude can send a conversation somewhere I never intended it to go.
I mention being naked, and suddenly folding towels sounds like a suspicious activity.
These three essays start with that assumption, follow me through an ordinary day without clothes, and return to my first visit to a nudist park. I arrived fully dressed. What happened next was my decision.
1. You Wanna See Me Nude?
Fine. But I’m Not Sucking in My Stomach.
I start with the question that gets attention. Then comes the body I actually have, without preparing it for somebody else’s approval.
2. The Things I Do When I’m Naked
You were expecting something more exciting than laundry.
I hunt for my glasses, nearly burn breakfast, clean a mirror, and rescue a sock from a fitted sheet. My clothes are off. The chores still need doing.
3. Clothing Optional: Taking It All Off or Leaving It On?
Your body does not stop being yours just because someone else has opinions about it.
I arrive at a nudist park with my clothes on and my brain working overtime. Nobody rushes me. Then a few people invite me into the hot tub.
